The Houseplant Thread - what do you have?

Ok peeps, I bit the bullet and bought a monstera wet stick. Anyone have experience with these or growing from wet sticks? Are they horribly finicky?

I have looked into those but never went ahead as I don’t like Monstera enough to spend the bucks on a gorgeous variegated one. Decided just to admire those owned by others from afar.
Can’t offer any advise, but there should be some ideas out there on the net. Just make sure to check quite a few sources to validate a method before trying it.

mist them and semi sun, keep moist @GailC
the variegated ones are awesome if you get it moving and it thrives
the large ones of those are big $

Thanks. I've found good instructions and am making a mini greenhouse to root it in.

There is a local nursery that sell veriagated plants with 3 or 4 leaves for $800+

I really don't have room for a plant like this but I'll find a corner someplace to set up grow lights for the months it can't be outside

Its crazy what some people will pay for rare plants. Fortunately I'm only half crazy.
Its ridiculous the prices that people are willing to pay but I guess I'm right up there with them. Almost 200 for a stem cutting, I could have found cheaper but this place has a good guarantee and thats not a common thing with a etsy shop. If it rots in the mail, I'm protected.

And I thought 70-80 on eBay for a stem cutting with a root and a single leaf was too much 😱😱😱😱

Lol, that is a really good price. I did over pay but I felt the guaranteed made it worth it

Its here, lets hope I can keep the thing alive now. Kinda having some buyers remorse, really should have went for a lower variegation to learn with.

I love a good sh*tshow!!

Rolling up kids and dogs?

...that's just a perk!

🤦🏽‍♂️🤣

Pardon me... it was medication inhalation time, recently..

I actually moved away from houseplants, in the last 2/3 years. Utilizing my separately-housed "cool rooms" for my tropical/sub-trop/arid ect. needs.

The cat always ate all plants anyways... he knew how to "dose" on poinsettia!

Sadly he passed away about 3 weeks ago... He was a Merry Prankster... and my friend.

He will be missed

Ironically (to this conversation), he got into some St. John's Wort I had collected... too much toxin.....

Aaaanyways...

I DO have an OBSCENE amount of dragonfruit cacti... I was planning on selling them this summer, but I let them get sunburnt... and have spent the season recovering...

So they bounced.. just a few still have "ugly spots"...

...if anyone is interested.

🤓
