The 2026 Yamadori/Collecting Thread

buds are popping on about a quarter of my collected trees. This coming weekend is probably my last chance for collecting this season. The second half of February is repotting time.

Cool stuff. I'm in southeast La., too........ about 35 miles south of Baton Rouge. Whereabouts are you located?

Took off work and did some collecting yesterday, weather was a light misting rain every so often, then it rained on me the entire time I potted them up with a heavy misting rain. I was soaked by the time I was finished minus what the rain jacket protected.

This hornbeam might be a good candidate for a flame style? It's a big one. Asshole woodpecker punched a couole holes in it.

Thanks, I am working with a lot of different species and try to experiment with a few that are uncommon. Baton Rouge, but I collect most of my trees on my property about 60 miles Northeast of here.

Light rain or heavy fog is the best collecting weather, for the trees anyway.
