Two years ago, more than one person thought the Lego bonsai set would be a great gift for me. I’ve constructed one and may construct the other one with the flowering, cute frog pieces.

i actually went to the Lego shop over the weekend and they didnt have it, probs gotta get it online

So how did we all do?

I got some

• nice scissors
• Sifter
• A branch saw
• A bonsai board game, which my wife was kind enough to play with me and was fun. You have to build a tree by placing food, foliage, flower and fruit pieces and managing how many pieces you can hold and place at one time.

I got almost exclusively bonsai gifts this year…probably because I’ve almost exclusively talked about bonsai .

I got that same board game! I’m looking forward to playing it, even though the resulting trees are a little ugly. My sister got me a bunch of pots that she found cheap locally, and a nice one from a Denver artist. I also got not one but two LEGO bonsai, as well as the tranquil garden set, which I actually like a bit more.

My girlfriend got me a starter set of copper wire, which I’m excited to use…but none of my conifers need wiring at the moment.

I told my hubby I couldn't think of anything I needed. So he got me a set of Wakazura cutting tools, with a tool roll, some twig shears, a little doling pruning saw and a tiny bonsai wish broom.

Only bonsai related gift was this book. I also gifted myself two new tropicals.



Here's hoping one of the 56 exposed myths tells me I'm right.
