Or as they’re better known ‘round the pasture, “cedars”.

Collected this one a little while ago.

And because apparently I’m tree happy, on the way back from the river I noticed these two growing in the rocks. Couldn’t resist. What’s two more?

Dont think they’ll all make it. The largest is turning quite brown, but if you scrape the trunk the wood is still bright green.

Only one of the three seems to be doing ok and is still very green.

TooCoys - did you collect these around Kemah?

No, these were the side of the road near Concan, TX. (Frio River area.)

Definitely in Ashe juniper territory. Their native range is west of I35. Around here we have ERC, but I think that there’s a range near I35 where they grow together and may even hybridize. Near Victoria, there are definitely two different kinds of juniper growing

Ashe do well here. Summer is not a good time to collect them. Next time try in January or February.

Since the trunk is still green inside, should I keep these in pot and hope for the best, or are they beyond hope?
