Stumped potensai or not? ;)

This is another trident stump that is ready for my demise. All in all it is a fairly decent stump with not to many scars except the one half way up the trunk. It has healed over well but healing left a bit of an inverse. But I will look past this for now. I would like to see what all you bonsai people would do with this potensai I know it has quit a few years ahead so don't tell me to put it in the ground for awhile
Right now it looks like a pom pom topiary. But in 3 to 5 years it may become a prebonsai

It looks like a one armed guy doing military presses to me.
I would lose the arm, elbow and forearm. Keep the branch that goes oposite the beer bottle.
If you are attached to the growth above the elbow... air layer that into another tree. Then choose your branches from the 50 or so that will sprout when you cut it.

My best advice on this one would be to send an e-mail off to Matt Outwinga wrt the future. No one IMHO has more experience on the net these days with Tridents than Matt. You nay even want to discuss stumpy with him. Just a thought...

Sometimes a cheap price on a big hunk of stock is not a good buy? Did you forsee the years involved in your climate to turn this tree around?

I wasn't trying to offend anyone here. Matt sepcializes in Tridents and the proximity of where John lives in relation to Matt was a wise recommendation IMHO.

I'll add that to my list of specialist. I didn't know Al before coming here, therefore I was not aware of his background.

I agree with all of you this is a challenge that I knew I was getting into but the price was luring.

Dale I knew this would be a 5 -6 year project at least in our climate but I think that if you were to put it in a hoop house it would speed things up. The only thing is the scars that would be left afterwards.
This is what I love about cheap stock
The trunk and the developing nebari is what sold me. But hey I don't plan on showing this tree its just for the neighbors

Matt is great when it comes to tridents for sure and I could not say anything bad about him, Fantastic fellow.
I know Al is as well but he has the climate for quicker development.
Dale is closer to me anyway

I will keep you all up on its development. This is just one of few

But I am curious of what you guys would do if you had it and the time frame you would think to get there.

Hi John, Sorry for chiming in so late. I would take the top and airlayer it off right around the scar below the left hand branch in the second picture. From what I can see theres a nice tree up there. As for below ...well ... The nebari looks tasty from your pics so I guess after the layer I would let it pop and see where it takes you.
