Something is gnawing on my deadwood!

This is my best tree, and last night something came by and chewed the deadwood to the point of cracking it! I'm so pissed. The larger jin was going to get carved back, yes, but the twisting one was only going to be reduced a bit to stay in the tree's silhouette. Think a fresh coat of lime sulfur will stop whatever neighborhood menace did this?

I'm guessing it's a bored cat based on the size of the branch it seemingly fit in its mouth to be able to do this. Maybe a rat, but WHY?!

hm.. Never heard of a cat chewing wood. Dogs however..

One of my cats decided to chew on the rails of several wooden dining room chairs years ago. Wrapping the rails in aluminum foil ended the behavior.

Treat your deadwood with lime sulfur. Pretty much every animal on the planet can't stand how it smells (including humans).
