Many of my tridents have had thick roots chopped, and I've worked at improving the ramification in those roots when and when I can. So, that's the intent of this graft. I will agree that that root is ugly but not as bad as in the picture... here's a picture from the other side.View attachment 587968
What is the purpose of this graft? It looks like it's placed too far out from the trunk to improve the base. Also, it seems to be in a spot where there is a bulge in the root. A graft in this location seems like it would only make it worse. Maybe the picture is deceptive
