So, I found this amazing tree...

Send me the address, I'll take care of everything for you.

Once it is healthy and thriving, I will contact you to arrange delivery.

Regards,
Martin

I would just forget about it. The guy said no. Leave it be.

Come on man, that is entirely too rational! We are talking full blown Bonsai hysteria here... Honestly though, I probably have to go this route.

Like I said before, if I happen to see the guy out in his yard one day when I am there I will just waive, smile and ask if he changed his kind, but I doubt that will ever happen...

Good way to get shot or go to jail-
I know you're probably kidding but illegal collecting is a sore spot with me.

You're right I was just kidding I would never do that and hope no one else would either. As to the tree in question I would just leave the guy alone about it. Just going up and asking took a lot of guts.

I commend you for asking. Most people in bonsai will never find or be able to afford material like this. In these situations, I try to see things from a positive or objects point of view, if you will. This tree is probably a couple of hundred years old and seems to be doing well. Lets just hope that this beautiful tree enjoys another 200 years of good health. It's sort of like if you are in a pet store and you see a dog that you really want, but do not purchase. Then shortly after, you go back to the pet store to buy the dog. In which case, the dog was sold. However, the store employee tells you that the dog has gone to a great home with other dogs to play with. In which case, you can be happy that the dog will have a good life.

How close to the road is it....? Hope a road crew cleaning out the ditch line or digging up water/gas lines doesn't destroy it.

Yeah.. That was kind of the thing that bothered me most I guess.. The guy pointed at another corner of his yard where a big round bed of little blue rug junipers was spread out... And he basically said that the big one I was looking at "had been there for twenty years, and he thought it would grow like they did (the round bed of rug junipers) but it never did..." He seemed to think it had been growing at a faster pace recently and it would "get there" eventually?? Umm no... No it won't and my concern is that he will get tired of waiting on it t turn into a tree that it isn't! He was so quick to close the door on me I don't think he even really considered my proposal.

Sounds like that is your ticket right there. ;) Just wait for the right timing/opening...

Maybe...suggest you would buy the blue rug juniper if that was his desired goal. Would have been my route of thinking. Let the guy chill...and maybe go back with a female...make her fawn over it. Let him think it "her" as to why your back. Sympathetically...ask since he admired the blue rug juniper...if you might be able to replace it with similar stock...for the look he desired.

The thong is rentable.

$50.00 per day unwashed
$5.00 per day washed.

I have no idea why anyone would want it washed.....

You just know that cranky old man has a shotgun next to the front door...we're talking South Carolina here!!

Careful! Not sure where you're headed there, ...but careful!
