Small collected maple

Last week I collected a 2? year old japanese maple and I was wondering how long before I can tell if it will pull through? The weather has been cool and raining for almost 2 weeks. I got a ball about 6 inches wide and it was packed with small feeder roots. The leaves havnt showed any signs of stress so I'm assuming it will be okay.

Usually the leaves will wilt right away --> yours have not = good.
I think it is good to go, but the real 'proof' is that you see new growth (the benchmark I use for knowing if cuttings have rooted).
