Slab vs pot for future forest

I am considering a slab over a pot for a future forest plating and I don’t know how repotting is made for a slab. Your advice is needed.

For Conifers I understand that it will look better when using a slab.

Are there also other benefits? Or less attractive parts when using a slab?

I will select a bunch of larch seedlings which are a couple of years old for the forest. After many years, at one point, I will have mature trees on the slab or first I should have mature trees in my collection and after that think about the group planting?

Thank you.

Hi Vladimir,
I have 2 comments to throw in here. I will try and be short as I tend to ramble lol.
1. Realistic old trunks = Bonsai forest/tree
2. If you planted on a slab you literally have minimal soil for the trees to grow so you get minimal trunk girth after many years = not realistic.

Hope this helps and big box or planted in ground will be best option.
Also slender look really cool if done well.

Other opinions on this? Why are people choosing pots vs slabs for forest plantings?

There are several articles and videos on the internet made by people with great experience into bonsai which are using 5-6 years trees, so not very old.

How are experts building forests? They are using trees not very old and in many years it will have the look of a mature tree? I understand that in a slab is impossible and that in a forest pot it will take a life. Or they are picking only old trees for their forest?
