I have decided not to worry about it as I have other Hibiscus that may be more suitable.

Congratulations! Yes those are Rose of Sharon but on a bright note they are a real nice landscape plant. You can trim them like a shrub or tree and use them as a easy to grow flowering privacy wall. Up north a lot of them a pretty pricey. Consider placement and move them if need be.
