Huge thanks to @PeaceLoveBonsai ! These benches are awesome and his blog post made it so easy that I could even do it. My wife has already suggested that I build another for all of the seedlings hanging around.
Quite inspirational thread. Much creativity and obviously individuals devoted to their trees and displays. Thx all!You had better watch that wascally wabbit he looks hungry for some bonsai treats. Lol
Look at the trunk on that acer.....chunky!Put a little bench on the rail of the pergola..enough to rotate a couple of trees in and out
Simple is good but you really need a mulch strip. (unless you like your weed eater that much)Pretty simple but it gets the job done!View attachment 441161
Third bench almost finished today.
It's an hybrid of vertical and horizontal planks if seen from above.
The wood is Cumaru, a close relative to Ipê, very hard and sturdy.
Now we need to stain and varnish it, to finish it off.

I ran out of stain, only bought 500mldon't forget the underside
You people and your fancy benches. Concrete foundation blocks and 2x6x8ft boards are my go to benches. In the winter I reuse them in the greenhouse for winter storage of my trees. Less money on benches more money for trees. hehehe
My greenhouse is nothing fancy. My parents and I built it as a lean to 3 seasons room that I stole for bonsai winter storage. Its so old it shifted and is currently a slight rhombus shape so when we rebuilt the roof this spring it was fun trying to get the panels to line up with the rafters. You people and your fancy greenhouses![]()
