Show us bugs on tree’s

So, I've been finding swallowtail wings in the grass... Wasps!

Geese! I regularly see the cicada killers in the back. They fly right up to me and look me in the eyes. It’s creepy but they aren’t aggressive to humans unlike other wasps that can be.

Peenywally? Dat's a new one to me, Mon. We call dem firefly's or lightning bugs. :) Pass the Kaya. ;)
Not to be confused with the Scots Peely-wally, with the 'wally' pronounced to rhyme with. rally, not holly, is a Scots adjectival expression. meaning pale, wan and off-colour, in the sense of. looking unwell and tired. “She's had the flu and she's looking affy peely-wally.”

What the heck is that? Spider of some sort?
Orbweb spider, a few different types floating around, that one is funny as he wraps around the branch, the black one normally hides on the bricks

Sort of turned into a bug and bug eater thread which is cool. This is a Gray treefrog or a copes gray treefrog. Apparently they are hard to distinguish. But thought he was really cool hopping around the tree’s while I watered. Even took some nice photo’s with the good camera while I watered so it looked like rain. Can’t upload the photo I think it’s to high resolution but here are iPhone pics. I have a moss garden and under my bench it stays really cool and wet so I figure it is living here. Hope to see the frog again. The frog is on a itoigawa that almost died from to much root reduction last spring but did make a comeback.

Thought it would be interesting and insightful to have a thread of interesting or not interesting bugs you find on your bonsai or tree’s you see in the wild. Harmful or not harmful to the tree’s.

Saw this what I’m almost 100% sure is an imperial moth caterpillar on a Bald Cypress that I collect cones from. Freaked me out because I almost walked directly into it.

I have a caterpillar phobia, if I came across this as you did, my neighbors a block over would probably think somebody found a dead body sprawled across their pet cat.

I love this thread so much! So neat seeing all the critters from everywhere else. This doesn’t really count because it isn’t native, but the Natural History Museum in L.A. had a butterfly pavilian with these Blue Morphos butterflies. The backsides of the wings were an incredible blue color. Of course our toddler did everything she wasn’t supposed to. Touch the butterflies, catch them, not stay on the path 🤦🏻‍♀️ She loves all insects, esp. butterflies :)IMG_2838.jpeg

Saw some of these on my honeymoon in Costa Rica. Definitely beautiful. We also had an eyelash pit viper hanging out on the steps leading to our treehouse...

Also beautiful:

Sorry for the derailment! If anyone ever wants to stay in a treehouse 90 feet up in the rainforest, can't recommend Finca Bellavista enough!

Yeah that wouldn’t be good! I almost grabbed the branch to move it but luckily my brain realized Stop Hugest Caterpillar Ever! Lol
