Show me your willows.

Telling that with a title "show us your willows" and 2 pages of replies we have exactly one bonsai willow to enjoy.

P.s. I've killed two but one was an Arctic willow which I'm not sure counts

Lol that's funny because I'm also known for having a really long... taproot.... hahaha..

But for reallz let's see your willows!

I'm sure there's another thread one growing mesquite soooom were on here!

This one place I fish has willow branches hanging over the $ hole.
Not Nwaite's Taproot's $ hole.
Like, a spot that holds fish.

Anyway, you gotta time a cast with a wind gust, the branches blow up, and you can skip something over the top....

Sometimes....a little current from a runoff pushes your line out....
Sometimes....it runs!

Hold on.

This stuff is on the tablet.

I have large trunk, seed pods and taproot.
It's the leaves that are turning and falling off that trouble me.

Here are some of my Dwarf Arctic Willows I've been playing with. All were taken from cuttings off a small plant I bought at a local shop about 7 years ago. They are supposed to be able to withstand to -30 Fahrenheit. I've got lots of cuttings in the ground right now but some are in training pots. They are fun little plants and as far as willows go, I think this species makes a great bonsai candidate.

This grouping is just for fun as I can't seem to throw away any cuttings I take from the Mother Tree. They are freshly cut at this point and just formed roots and new leaves came out within a week or so after them being bare sticks.

This one was in the ground for 2 winters before I dug it up this last August.

This is a progression shot of when I transplanted some cuttings that were in the ground to a training pot. (about 2 months progression in pics)

Some of these cuttings have been in ground for their 2nd winter now.

If you would be so kind I would like to see any bonsai willows that you own.
Thanks

Fried provolone is tasty.
There aren't many willow bonsai because they are pretty unpredictable. I had one for a couple years and just got fed up with it that I got rid of it, not saying if your dedicated and know what your doing it can't be done. I like unusual material but willows roots will die off if your trim them to much and regrow them, branches can die off and be frustrating. I doubt I'll even get one again but they are tempting because the grow so fast and are pretty strong, just a little to crazy if I say lol.

I am fond of difficult trees

Which ones?
