Hello, im fairly new to bonsai in general and japanese black/white pines for that matter. im located in North Carolina usa.
I have got about 140 japanese black pines seeds,and 6 white pine seeds, that i ordered online.I have planted them in a mix of perlite-oil absorb- and pine bark. Currently they are under a grow light indoors. The first batch was planted 02/01/2026 about 40 jbp seeds. A few have already sprouted. The rest where planted 02/09/2026. I plan on creating shohin size trees with all of them. I will attempt to make seedling cuttings with them when they are ready. Follow me on this journey, i will update twice maybe 3 times a year. I will post pictures of the sprouted seeds in a month

Indoors can be done, but it can be rather difficult without the right setup. I hope yours work out, but I would have saved a couple seeds for outdoors.

Hello thanks for the comment, i plan to place them all outside, im just doing the sprouting and cuttings indoors because of the frigid weather we are having here in North Carolina, they will all be placed outdoors in about a month!
