Thanks for your reply!Crataegus/Hawthorn is what I thought upon seeing the photo but was not sure.
Pink blooming ones are the Paul's Scarlet variety. A friend of mine in the UK has one that I quite admire. His trunk isn't this old though. But stunning in its own right. Which is why I know the cultivar name as well. Lovely tree. One I keep looking for...for my own bench. The white blooming hawthorn variety reminds me of my pyracantha bloom.
