shall we stop?

Oh I remember that one sided dual, lol!

Here's one on the same lines....

I challenge all masters of bonsai to a dual, here are the rules:

Any plant, any species, any age, any source of material but it must be less than four years old and it must have been grown in my back yard. :D

Go come to Europe! Here everyone badmouths all other nations all the time. It is considered the norm. You can insult my nation if that makes you feel better. It is not helpful to be touchy here.

OK, you don't get a chance like this very often. I hate Germany.....that's right I hate it. The Germans put two slugs in my Grandfather's bum and I can't afford their cars.

KK,

sorry, I fooled you. You insulted the WRONG nation. You have to insult Austria! No need for TV again.

Yup you are right but if someone insulted America you might feel differently....

This - I hope - is my last post on this topic. But damn ('scuse me) some people have an ability to get under your skin and golly I admire his bonsai skill so much.
Cheers,

Steve

Ok, I have heard this a few times.....and no disrespect you Kong, but where can I see more of your trees. Over the past 18 months or so I have only seen the tree you battled Walter with, that is it. I noticed your last picture with the foliar fert there seems to be some very nice trees in the back ground. I want to see more.....I want to see what you are hiding there, lol!!

Maybe post a few sometime.

Vance, here is how I was introduced to you.
First you wanted to tell me how to run a duel
Then my rules were rediculous
Then something was vague
Then your suspicion I was a no show
Then I must have taken the early train out of town

Is this how you introduce yourself to people Vance? Do you understand why it is hard for me to be kind to someone that acts like this. Come on Vance, take a look in the mirror once in a while.

Steve, stop feeling sorry for your self. If someone goes out of their way to show pictures of a trip to the most sacred bonsai village in the World and you make your wise guy remarks about which forum it should be on and tell me it is an off-topic discussion ...what do expect in return? Get real Lad.

Yup, I'm a real schmuck alright, but that doesn't excuse you.

The lousy Osterreich's are neutral and not worth fussing with, they are no fun.

Vance Wood is a Schmuck, Lord that feels good...lol

To this crowd...you got to be kidding. Sorry I made a slip with the picture. Jason, I was born in 51 and collected my first bonsai when I was 9. The place is covered with trees. First you have to say the magic words.

These flame wars are the reason I keep my hand on the bonsai and not on the mouse. Most people I know feel the same way. Dont even bother logging into BTalk or here anymore. It's all a joke..:(
Spend my time reading Blogs and looking at pictures these days.
Carry on.

EWWW EWWW EWWW do ME!!!

lol this is awesome!!! :) :)

and Vance... the comment and FLW is not conjecture .... he was a complete ass.... but that is just the way it was. FLW will always be known more for his breathtaking inspirational work and innovative creations. He has been credited with inventing both the car port and radiant floor heating as well as his many great architectural achievements. I for one wish I would have had the chance to know him.

Gary, I take it that was a redneck attempt at humor or was it part of the general strafing of other nations? Bet you knew the Governor of California came from Austria. I knew Walter originated from there too.

We must try to think of ourselves as internationalists. The litmus test would be if you joined the new site International Bonsai Forum which has originated in Europe but has members worldwide. We are constantly reminded from Irene B that bonsai has no borders, how right she is.

Ash :D

As a matter of fact I have been in many... I even stayed in the Price Tower (remember i used to live in Tulsa).. before becoming a software engineer I had planned to study architecture... my inspiration was FLW... I even went so far as to visit the California houses as well. Falling Water is my current goal.. and one day I hope to visit.

I love when my country is insulted, it makes me feel important.

Remember, it is much better to be insulted than ignored - being insulted may irritate you, but being ignored for a long time can actually drive you insane.

Research has shown that the majority of criminals who never got caught, sooner or later will betray themselves by leaving soubtle clues to attract attention.

OK KK I'll bite,
Would YOU PLEASE post some pictures not of the "trees" but of your bonsai.
Cheers Gman

This is a good thread to hijack anyway. There is one in Springfield Illinois that has been untouched since it was built, been there twice. He also designed a building here in Oklahoma City and Bartlesville.

KK's Okay, the boards get a little boring sometimes without some heated discussion .We all live in a world with a lot of tension, especially those who have high pressure jobs, not me, I'm just plain ornery. At the very least, we get to vent here sometimes. You have to admit or not, your choice, that it makes for entertainment. If KK bothers you, ignore him, that's what I do ;)

iirc the one in Bartlesville is the Price Tower... which was converted to a hotel... furnishings are not original but are very FLW like.. there is an onsite museum you can enjoy that does conain some of the original apartment furnishings. It was Frank's idea of a building that would be the future communities... so half was apartments the other half was businesses and people who worked at a business would live in the apartments. very utopian of him .

I don't know if i have been in the springfield IL building but i have been to his home in Oak Park, IL.There are a number of homes designed by frank from his earlier days within a few blocks of his home/office. The drafting room of the Oak Park home is impressive to say the least. One interesting aspect of his design was the sparseness of size in the bedrooms he designed....he felt that families should spend more time together and that living rooms where of the most importance. Strangely he was a terrible father and neglected his children often. Also iirc he was the designer of the first 5 burner stove which are begining to regain popularity.

He also used a method we refer to as "Exploding the box" where he used low ceilings to drive people from the front door into the main portion of the home where they would be met by tall expansive ceilings and open spaces (one of the cali homes made me feel 7' tall in the entry way). Homes were also quite small in comparison to today's oversized useless buildings of ego.

Frank was a master of corner windows.. especially frameless ones... they leaked... but it was an ingenious idea none the less. Given the opportunity to design my own home I will certainly draw great inspiration from the greatest architect of the 20th century (I've read he liked to question the 20th century bit).
