Hahaha I just wired my primo thuja and my valavanis cypress with that technique.. it works amazingly well.. it definitely gets the branches spread ready to receive light and nourishment.. excellent techniqueCool I'll definitely check those out. I just watched the two of the videos @Yamabudoudanshi posted and I'm really liking the wiring technique used in one of them.
Bad screen grab of one video, but the wire plate on the bottom of the pot is great, and the way he used one wire to bring down 3 different branches was awesome.Sorry, I'm new and impress easily. I wish the translation was better because when reading, "This is the time for wiring (pruning) this tree" is confusing (he meant both), but I did get a chuckle when the translation said "I look forward to thinking." I was right there with them as I've been looking forward to thinking for years.

Btw I think your sekka has Immense potential to be an outstanding bonsai you are trippin my man.. I wish I didn't put wire on my sekka to put movement in the trunk. I think these tree's shine in the formal upright style.. all your tree needs is a bit more Remification and refinement but I totally get why you trained it like that seeing you want cuttings and all that stuff. BTW that jm I got from you is doing fine seems fairly resistant to the black spot that's already Infected all my maples last year and this year. I have to spray the living hell out of them not to look like they have Leprecy or the Heave.. the Dorf maples seems the hardest to keep black spot free but not the little guy you gave me. I have another dorf maple that looks Terrible because I missed one dam spraying of mancozeb smh..
yeah, I've noticed blackspot doesn’t really bother my kotohimes. i get a few spots on my red maples, but it's not too bad. last two years I've only used Microthiol Disperss wettable sulfur product to spray my red maples, JBP, etc.
