I read many years ago that you could trim junipers and not cause brown tips by using children's plastic bladed scissors to do the cuts. Don't remember the reasoning for why it worked. I never had the scissors to try it.
Anyone ever heard or tried this? Just one of many myths? If it works could the same be used on pine needles?

If you're cutting the right parts, junctions, at forks....
You should never get browning tips.

It doesn't make any sense to cut on a lone new growth to seek new buds. That's the only time cutting will cause a tip to brown. Just regular dieback.

Probably a lot of myths come from too much cutting causing weakness.
Cut timing the same time as mite damage becomes noticable.
