sand???

I've been phasing grit/sand out of my mix for a year or so and replacing it with pumice...sand is too damn heavy.

Yes it is heavy but not everyone has pumice available.

Also everything here is on one level so a 2 wheeler or cart is no hassle. Our largest decorative trees stay potted right where they are all season. I doubt any Bonsai we have weigh in at more then 50 pounds.
Pumice here at between 8 and 15 dollars a pound. 50 pounds of traction grit 3-4 dollars....

I know. When I lived in MA, I did a search for dry stall through Agway... the closest store that had it was in Richmond, VA...and the bag was torn open. I still have to drive 50 miles round trip here in GA to get it, but it's worth the gas money.
