I am really contemplating using the commissioned Erin pot Vic did for me...over the Sonny Boggs pot after viewing trees Matt Smith paired with his Neagari Satsuki. Matching blooms with pot color. Hands down...Vic's pot is stunning with the blooms. Not traditional by any means...but his vision for the tree. So especially after watching @sorce with his pots...even if not kept in it. I feel it is owned to use it first.

It did looked good with hens and chicks...but mine bloomed and are spent. So pot empty again...

The color is stunning...

Sonny's is striking as well...but not commissioned. Maybe another year. The blooms rock the Erin pot. Even though short lived..l am leaning towards respecting the potters vision.

I'm so sorry to say this and please don't put pins in my voodoo doll, but that pot is butt ugly for that fine azalea.

Something more refined and glazed that accents the flowers and doesn't overpower them would seem more dignified.
Lol plans are to look for an appropriate pot. Last year's poll neither were appropriate. So...I will place it in this pot...and allow Victor the joy of seeing his pot used as he envisioned. Honestly...I am less concerned of how it will look. But, to let him see his vision...what's two years in a pot...I don't see it as a big waist...temporary shoes...of a potter I respect and love his work. Just seems right to me.

Though...I am more into the patience end of things...not rushing a good pot. Asked Scott if I could wait and leave the ginkgo in the bulb plastic pot...another year. I may have took a few steps back. Oh I love pots...but, why rush into a pot that doesn't speak to you for purchase if it fits...no...I will wait. This Neagari needs repotted this year, so...neither is a great pairing...so I am doing sentiment over the other.

But I do appreciate your post. And...will look for new shoes...for a day in the far future.

I am open to suggestions...? (photos inspired)

I have to honestly say, and I'm sorry, but I agree with @twisted trees . I don't think either pot does that tree justice.
No neither do. I just never found one that did. It needs repotted this year. It's rested two years in the pot its in. I could always put it back into the training pot. But sentiment makes me curious...if the two opposites will have an unusual pairing that once in...won't look bad. I have so many pots...but nothing the size this one needs. Well...actually I might but wrong shape.
