I picked up this Wisteria at the California Bonsai Society member sale on Sunday. I have no idea what type it is, or if it even flowers. But I saw a nice trunk and scooped it up. Time will tell, I guess.

I have this Sara Rayner that was destined for my cascading California Juniper, but now I think it’ll go better with this Wisteria in the Spring.

About an 8” base showing above the soil.

I see a cascade in this. I wired up a few of the branches to work with the planned repotting angle.

Very nice find, what a trunk! I started a few Japanese wisteria from seed so i'll be watching this thread so i know what to do in 30 years from now. :D

Nice trunk on this. Keep an eye on the deadwood. That area at the front of the nebari in particular.

Amazing that as old as it obviously is that it hasn’t flowered. Both of mine flowered the second year I had them after having to regrow branches and following being dug out of a neighbors yard. Maybe a characteristic of that cultivar. Keep it in a tray of water over the summer as they are very thirsty.

I have a feeling he didnt have it very long. Probably just dug it and sold it along.

In my experience, It's not really unusual for some larger collected trunks like this not to flower immediately. It can take some time and hard pruning and getting a bit root bound to induce something like this to flower. Other times, larger trunk can flower almost immediately.
