Roots? What roots?

Collected Sub Alpine Fir transfer and repot from second grow box to Anderson flat. This is the third reduction of roots to form a suitable root ball for Bonsai. Next step will be a maintenance pot. This is a deep propagation Anderson flat 15 1/2 inch by 15 1/2 inch 5 inch depth. Removal of all final field soil from collection in this repot. Bottom roots reduced to the underside of the trunk, only smaller side roots remaining after this it will fit in suitable sized bonsai pot for the design to come. Needed assistance on this tree as well as the rope and pulley to take the main weight while maneuvering the root ball. My collecting partner assists. This the last step to reduce the root ball and remove thicker anchor roots. Process began with very large wooden grow box for two years and then a smaller wooden grow box for two years and now the Anderson flat. Next spring will fit into the pot purchased for this tree. A custom pot from Vicki Chamberlain. Medium grain pumice, and Akadama mix at this stage. Note dowels wedged and screwed into the flat to stabilize the trunk while roots recover. Wire would not work so well on this trunk and current condition of the root ball.

Did you saw this root ball in half as well or?
Well, to be honest no.
It's a sapling growing from seed - a seedling - and it didn't go into a bonsai pot ...
Yet.
It's sitting now in a double colander to thicken up the trunk, so I make sure I will win the contest against @leatherback ' s BRT, also from seed , and from the same batch.
