Im trying to do some propagation from clippings and i want to know what is the best stuff to use to get a clipping to root. im trying to propagate a honey mesquite clipping and i have some Bontone Rooting powder. Is there better and whats the best way to do it? and ive heard of gels? just looking for some tips and some links to good products

In my opinion any basic rooting powder is sufficient.

Good luck!

This is the first time I heard someone growing cuttings from mesquite...probably since it is like weeds here and grows from seed easily.

I just went to a demo where the artist uses pure Perlite for his cuttings and swears by it.

I use pure perilite if I'm going to put them in the intermittent mist, and pine bark perilite 50/50% if I'm going to just put them in the shade as with my hardwood cuttings and ficus in the summer.

ok thanx for the tips!! ill pick up some Perlite on my day off, and i wanted to try to bonsai the mesquite and i know a massive wile tree with small branches that look like small trees, and im kind of using it as practice for rooting a clipping ill be taking off of my Fukien Tea in spring
