Is the 11 1/4...(I have a CM ruler now!)
More or less across the front?
Like this?View attachment 177781
Is that chopped off spot off choppable?
What would that other dimension be happy at?
I'll have more questions

First..
This is my preference.
But can we cut off the right side so much?View attachment 177785
Or do you want to keep it off set left still?
And how long is THAT pot?

Thanks! You struck me as a great guy yourself and I can't wait to come tour your way someday! Appreciate the kind words.I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Wireme, having an all too brief visit and seeing his trees. First and foremost, he’s one hell of a nice guy. His collected material rivals any professionally collected material I’ve seen. He is horticulturally and stylistically curious. His natural resource knowledge exceeds most members of this forum. He does this while working full time to support his young family. He doesn’t have the luxury of highly skilled professionals, mentors or active clubs nearby. We are all on this quest for experience, skills and knowledge. Sometimes the road there gets a little bumpy. It has for all of us. Wireme has my full respect.
Yeah, more or less across the front.
These redline roots carry on as thick woody things and flare out to at least 9" across, probably a little more. I hope to drop the soil level to expose that full flare. Aside from that I don't think there are any long inflexible bits to worry about. Should be packed full of fine flexible root and any reasonable dimension should be fine for the other. A lot of times those things we do wrong and throw our hands up in disgust will come back and kiss us on the cheek years later.
Don't lose hope or vision, regardless of the negativity you may encounter on the way.
Are those more vertical arrows where the hunks end?
I am going to start working with these 2 new clays today....
If you want to play with color...View attachment 179021View attachment 179022
I like the darker in fear that the red will match the bark color too close. .....
Either way I'd like to get both fired first to see them in person.
......
Having read thru this entire thread again .....
I must say...this is one for the Books!
Faced with some difficult decisions, many many options, each equally impressive....
I like how you CHOSE, ACTED, and MADE results!
Something about these Woodism's...
This theory of mine, which I think you understand better than most.......
We can't speed up development time, but we CAN remove everything that slows down development.
You excersize it to Perfection!
So well balanced!
And with health enough to endure a bear encounter!
So much to learn from this thread.
Too Proud to Pot it!
Damn if this ain't somehow the path to seeing one of my pots in a @ftpt14fptc3po!r2d2lol! Picture at that awesome CA show!
Oh shit! New pressure! Ah....but when we always think so deeply, what is pressure?
So anyway....
This is it......
I want to hear any other brainstorming tidbits of information you may be able to provide in regards to this tree....
Thoughts on possible pots....
Pics of pots....
Future possibilities....etc ......
Any BS that seems insignificant, so Ideas can fruit in the negative space of it.
I'd love to hear from everyone.
This is a thread that should have tags thoughtfully placed and edited for easy searchability.
A resource to find them would be nice. ...
And we can bring some excellent organization to our "search" function.

Gotta clean it up still!
Dirtbag to dirtbag, it needs a dirtbag mend that will keep it perfectly safe.
I am disappointed, but somehow, this is kinda the reason to get a Sorcemission Early! Mad Discounts on, what I hope to be, very special, perfectly useable pots!
That said everything else about this pot is exactly what a Sorcemission pot is, and I thank you for the opportunity to share this!
I love that you kept both the jins, you kept an open mind about the future of this tree, and even though that bear decided to shorten it some, you held onto what mother nature offered. Open minded future vision.
So I put that bear there forever to bring balance to that vision. (I hope it was a Black Bear!)
Rather than mostly negative space there, he is bringing attention, and looking at it now, throwing your eye perfectly back up the lines of the tree.

Sorry to keep you waiting! I space out!
Wow...the jins act so well now, protecting that beautiful tree against the bear too!
That wasn't intentional. Somehow that was brought about by the energy that is the bond between you and your tiny skier! Which is awesome...and she is amazing...so you know I had to make her a pot!
I really can't explain what an honor it is to be trusted with this work, new as I am, for such an amazing caliber tree. I will send you detailed pictures of my dirtbag concerns, and if it is beyond your level of acceptance, while we may miss this years repotting opportunity, I will work to reach your expectations.

But clean up your chop!
So, I was just out digging,,with the recent freeze/thaw we’ve been getting the snow is firm enough in morning to tempt the dogs to romp around on it. That can lead to all sorts of carnage amongst tree tops of course so I’m exposing and digging out the front of the dog barrier now.Pssshht chop!
Always how I'm feeling at that moment!

Bit of relief.View attachment 186152
Cuz right before I taped this (from Eli!) Box up...I was like..."fuck that, if this box is crossing the border and it's already this expensive to ship...."
I started throwing random shit in and forgot what I put in it when it came tome to fill out the paperwork! Oops!
I must have guessed accurately!
But then I watched this puppy show and how they train em to walk on conveyors and sniff boxes....and I couldn't stop thinking about how possible it is I may have accidentally dropped "plant material" in there....
Cleared Customs!
Whew!

It's rough, isn't it?Getting closer to extracting the tree, couple more weeks maybe.
It's rough,isn't it?
All of these other people working on trees and you're just waiting around for the snow to melt enough just to see if you even still have trees.
By the time mine are thawed Adair will have already decandle his JBPs.
At least you aren't doing the Curly Shuffle from bench to garage and back every day.
It's kind of nice. Kind of not.
