Repotting 3-4 year old Japanese Black Pines

This is a great thread about repotting based on first hand experience. I am in the situation of looking at a likely fall repotting because I didn’t use quality soil on a field grown tree when first dug it out. May I ask the timing of your fall repotting and how much time did you give the trees to recover before the first frost?
Thank you.
Better late than never...For me, fall repotting is around thanksgiving to before xmas. In zone 9 we only get light frosts in Feb - early March, so not much of an issue. During early - mid fall, there can be a lot of vascular growth and swelling. So when I repot in late fall I try to wait until that vascular growth has slowed or stopped. I should note that I consider fall repotting a maintenance task, not a major operation; I think late winter/early spring is ideal.
