I started this particular maple from seed in 1994. It is approximately 20" tall and 24" wide.
This is a local variety of Red Maple that seems to respond to bonsai culture very well.

How long did you let the tree wrap to the rock in sand or soil, before it was ready to be re-potted ? i currently have a Japanese red maple im experimenting on with this technique

Hello McMaple.
The amount of time varies and depends on how much growth you can get during each growing season. For me, it usually takes three to five growing seasons to get the roots firmly established over the rock surface.
