Recovery & Mental Nuts

My point was . All religion teaches you to live a good life and act with noble intent . With honour . More people should work on there actual actions in that context . Then trying to claim they are something they do not back up with there actions . My reference to the person in the mirror. Is one I read about from I forget which ancient reference. Your reflection is your true self . You can not hide . Your thoughts or actions from . So in all things can you look the person in the mirror . In the eye and say you tried your best . For myself it was a discussion with the mirror that started my admission I was a alcoholic . And started my sobriety

Kids went on a walk to get some onions because chili without onions just ain't right. On the way home they noticed this, and thought it noteworthy.

Good for them! Whoever they are.
Lord knows I couldn't have walked away from a full beer like that.

A little excited, so I had to share.

Got myself moving back in the direction I want to be.😁

Nat exactly glamorous or wealth building, but it's honest and fulfilling. All I have to do now is make it to that first payday. LoL
Yay, good for you! So glad you're back into teaching.

Congrats bro sorry it’s a little late been busy .

The app the school uses for notifying substitutes of available work is apparently slow on my phone. Routinely I get the notification and immediately open my phone, but it's already taken, meaning I get the jobs that others are hesitant to do.

So I've spent allot of time with the Special Ed department at the high school. Not a bad thing, but definitely a step outside my comfort zone. Beats the elementary school special Ed job I missed last week in that regard.

One thing I failed to realize ahead of starting this is that as a substitute teacher you never really get out of that first week of the new job. It's a bit more stressful than I expected, but at least I'm making friends in the highschool Special Ed department.

Being a BonsaiNutter should prepare you well for the special ed jobs.

Actually had one of the paraprofessionals in the department tell me that, as far as subs go, I'm, "better than mediocre."

That's the nicest thing anyone has said to my face in years!🤣🤣🤣

Newbie here. 95 days sober, living in East Tennessee. I have zero experience and zero budget but I needed something to take care of and we aren't allowed pets at the sober living, I spent an hour digging up this little sweet gum and all day digging up these junipers and pines. My dad donated two of his Chinese elm starters bc he also has an interest in bonsai. It's so rewarding putting in work to keep these little guys alive. Sorry if this isn't the right forum thread, someone recommended this based on my first post. Glad to be here

This is the EXACT right thread for you, Spencer. I'm glad you're here. If you send me a DM, I'd be happy to send you a few tools that I'm not using that could help get you started.

My messages won't go through, I get an error message saying I should contact staff so I sent them an email, should get back to you in a few days. I'm still trying to figure out this website

Lovely man! Congrats!
I'm finishing my last week of working in academics, and the amount of tear-to-my-eyes stuff the students, PhD's and postdocs are doing are worth the words in gold.

I regret being born in the 90's. I always wanted a career in academia, but then, while I was in college, I learned I had just as good a chance making a career in theater. I was told if I wanted a tenure track position, I should have applied for the job sixty years ago.

Now, I'm a lawyer, but inflation is so out of control that I can't afford a house, and I live at home with my parents. I was told I should have entered the real estate market back in 2008 instead of going to middle school.

Don't say that - the real estate market peaked nationally in 2007 - and by 2008 was in a free-fall!
