Finally found a purple bougainvillea I like. I have 2 other long term projects that will take many years. I wanted one that was purple and a certain style. Something I can work with and finish making it the way I want. Cant wait to see it grow and flower.
First picture is what it looked like when I got it. I ground out all the rotted wood. Small amount of pruning and wiring. Started to fix the goofy hole in the middle of the trunk. Will finish and whiten it some more next week.
2nd picture is in its current state. Will do more trimming
later as it grows and shows its shape.

Glad to see it perk up. It made me sad in your guava post what you said happened to this one. Very nice trunk on that one!

Glad to see it come back also. It looked bad when I got it. The store owner said he would stand behind it and that it will come back. Seemed like a real nice guy. Everyday it fills out more and more. Cant wait to change the pot.

May see my first purple color. Been wanting a purple boogie for a long time. Been so busy building the greenhouse haven't noticed that its beginning to flower maybe. Saw it tonight after cleaning up my mess out back.

It may need some iron by the looks of those leaves...enjoy the bracts! Bougies hold a special place near and dear to my heart. Nice tree!

What an excellent tree there, love a good Bougie and that is one I'd love to have.
Also is that a Tipuana Tipu in that last pic?

Thanks, I love bougainvilleas too. I have several boogie projects that I like messing with. Looking forward to next year when they start growing again.

Nice bougies. I fell in love with them being on holiday in Egypt. They covered all the hotel walls. They can be seen in Mediterranean region too. I play with two from garden center... and I keep them in a cold room in winter after being pruned. They drop almost all leaves, need to be kept on a drier side when not growing.

Thanks pete. I'm still learning about them. Seems like if you let them get on the dry side they flower good.

Looks beautiful! Just purchased a Bougie pre Bonsai for a workshop coming up at the end of the month. Now to start studying.

So very beautiful!
Dense branching, too! Bo you have any tips on that? :)
Is this the same tree with the one on the other thread of yours @c54fun ?
