I was almost going to ask about that sort of thing Colin, just how thick a trunk from a bougy can you make a cutting from as I had an air layer fail on me and was wondering if I can treat it like a cutting.
Do you have any advice on how you do it, my temps for the next few months are going to be around 70 deg F by night and 90+ by day, seems to me putting a bag or plastic over it would cook it.

I just cracked the lowest left branch while bending it forward a bit with wire
At least it's after a fork, so even if it dies back, I won't lose the branch. I did seal the crack with cut goo.

Looks like the cracked left branch is going to make it. The thing is starting to go full bloom, and I'm torn between removing them for efficiency or just enjoying them . . . I'm pretty sure they're going to go soon.

Shade for foliar growth, full sun for floral, I also don't use Nitrogen if I want blooms in full sun...

Honestly, this cutback wasn't so much about the flowers - that's just a funny side effect. I'm trying to get this compact and start ramifying it.
Oh, and I did end up losing that left branch where it cracked - you can see where the new shoot before the break has taken over its duties.

I have a clump, Mother plant. Going to take years to in our climate. Has to come in for the Winter and requires trim after trim with little back budding. It is healthy and all but here not such a great plant choice.
