Hey All,

Been in the hobby a few years now and would like to acquire some established, unstyled yamadori. Most vendors I've seen in the forums -- Backcountry and so on -- don't ship to California (we're just killing it as a state, but that's a different conversation).

I'm mostly looking for California Juniper, Western Juniper or RMJ... would like to spend somewhere in the $1-3k range depending on the tree.

I've checked out Bob Pressler's and Jason Chan's nurseries -- they mostly carry field grown stock with a very limited selection of CAJ and RMJ (almost all of it is part of their personal collection and has already been worked on).

If anyone has any leads on purchasing raw, collected material here in the SoCal area it'd be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried Peter Tea? Ptbonsai.com

Thanks for the reply! I did check out Peter's site... the selection seemed pretty limited.
His selection ebbs and flows depending on season so definitely keep an eye out! Randy does sell to California residents IIRC so you could attempt to reach out to him.

Thanks! Do you have Randy's email address or a way to contact him? I see him all over Ryan's site and blogposts but no official way to contact him.

My teacher may have some to part with. 3k probably wont cut it though.

Check with David Nguy in Chino, CA. Also try to visit Peter Tea's garden. He has many more trees than are on his website.

this should be required viewing for people complaining about why they cant just send plants wherever they want to.
