I believe that bonsai is just like music. The trees we own should be good enough to allow us to reach higher but not much more. I've often received encouragement here to get better trees. That will come fairly soon but only when I've learned to take care of the trees, to have a watering system to keep the tree healthy when I travel on business, to arrange for caretakers on extended leaves. All those things seem trivial to the experienced but I've lost plenty of yard trees in this harsh environment of hot blowing salty air to know better.

Through the years I've known many people who came to ownership of precious things and ruined things that had survived for centuries. I know getting a little better trees is not close to that but still I don't want to kill trees because I don't know or don't have the set up to care for them.

I truly appreciate the reminders of focusing my energy on things that makes me better. Keep doing that but please also remember that us newbies have to match our trees with our progression in knowledge and set up else we kill a lot of good trees.
