Wondering if anyone has ever brought their Chinese privet inside with their tropicals over the winter? They are zone 10 hardy, which usually stays above freezing. I've always assumed they would survive and was curious if anyone does this.

I don’t own one, but in my area they are sold as “indoor” bonsai trees. The Privet should be good down to 50°. If you’re encountering temps below that, bring it inside and put it near a south facing window.

Yeah, but sadly lots of places sell "bonsai trees" to people that way and they die.

I've had a shohin privet for > 15 years, maybe longer, and I just keep it in my cold greenhouse for the winter. It's been down to -10 f.
They are grown as hedges here.
However you said Chinese Privet so I'm not sure if that makes a difference since there are like 50 species of them but I believe they originated from Asia.

I usally store mine in the coldhouse ... but I guess, they would be hardy.
But I am a bit on the windy side and they are shohin, so I will not risk any damage.

Sorry, misread, mine are Ligustrum japonicum.

I've got Chinese privet in my landscape - planted years ago. It will spread if you don't stay on top of it. Not as bad as Bradford pear... but then again nothing is :)

It certainly doesn't need any winter protection here.
