Principles of Bonsai Design

I purchased David De Groot's book recently but I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to go through it. Started reading it today and it's excellent so far. Very interesting, concepts well explained and illustrated, and covers a diverse range of topics. Highly recommended to those who do not have it yet. I like how David discusses multiple design routes on a piece of material and how he weighs each one.

Funny enough, the exact words I said to him just before was "hold this butt"

Butt is the same as pal, chum, friend down in South Wales.

Yes, It was like 35 USD from the ABS. I was starting to fear that I wouldn't find it.

They also had the Morten Albek Shohin book for $20 and even threw in a bunch of freebies!

I think principles of design can be universally applied. Whether you're designing a logo, packaging for a water bottle, or a bonsai. Whatever. Any type of visual artform can benefit from understanding basic design. Understanding things like color theory, negative space, repetition, movement, balance, contrast, etc... will help you decide what to do with your bonsai.

You could always just get any book or online reference that talks about design principles in general and it will help.
