Hey folks! I am curious about how to deal with Premna Japonica (musk maple) this winter. I recently acquired one and I think it's a bit tricky with my zone. Anybody have experience overwintering these in a similar zone? Cool (50ish F) basement maybe? Suggestions? Thanks!

I planted one outside about ten years ago. It's been fine. I'd put the plant in its pot on the ground in a sheltered area of your yard and mulch it under eight inches or so of hardwood mulch.

Thanks for the help! I have heard advice from people with zones as close to mine as yours and that is their suggestion and what I'd like to do. It also appears that there is not much info past your zone north, and from the info I can find this little guy is hardy to 6B but no one seems to have reliable info past that. Adding to my problem, I am on the edge of 5B. If I can't find someone in a similar zone/area with advice I will end up having one in the ground, one in protected unheated back porch, and one in the basement to determine for myself what the northern limit is. I do appreciate you sharing your experience rockm. Cheers!
