Post Flowering Azalea Repot and Trim

Since we are social distancing, I took the opportunity to drink some beer and trim and repot this azalea. I don't know the cultivar, it has hose in hose red flowers and really dark green foliage. It is also one of the first azaleas that I started trying to bonsai. It has suffered greatly, but hung in there through my learning curve.

Here it is, finished blooming:

I like to start by removing the spent flowers:

I then start by trimming all of the straight up growth and downward growing grow growth. Then reducing the branches back to the profile, here"s the result:

Now for the repotting, here it is removed form the pot:

I comb out the roots and reduce it by about half:
