Particle size and easiest way to get it?

I always thought particle size was measured by what would pass through one screen with a certain mesh (say 1/4") but would not pass through a slightly smaller mesh (say 3/16"). It doesn't require someone to measure each particle
The biggest advantage of screening your inorganics is not necessarily getting the exact particle size, but getting RID of particles that are too small - what we call "fines" and dust.

there is a smaller pebble 4 mm, that is available. Try for that.
We made our own 8 mm.

This a willow leaf type ficus, local. Does not like a lot of water.
The test --- hand rolled balls [ ball bearing principle ] and aged compost.
The tree and still having problems slowing down the excessive trunk thickening
This willow leaf ficus was grown to the trunk size seen here, in 5 mm silica based gravel
and aged compost. By volume [ spadefuls] in this pot only.
