Outdoor Setup

Light will come in the sides. Dormant trees require very little light. Photosynthesis has shut down or slowed to a crawl. Are you under the misunderstanding that lots of light is needed?
Îs this what you mean? This itiogawa has definitely slowed.

The normal sign showing a slow down of photosynthesis in the late fall/ early winter with juniper is a color change. The junipers can take on a brownish color with cooler temperatures. This varies by the type and climate.
The tree you posted looks like it has been overworked and is weak in my eyes. Possibly too much foliage removal and wiring at one time for the health of the tree.

I bought it, and wired up to make a shape. I haven’t touched it since spring of this year when I bought the starter.

In that case the colour may be the result of root issues, or simply a color variant of juniper. What appears to be greyish tips is usually a sign of poor health. I have seen a lot of junipers with variable colouring but not itoigawa.
Wish you the best, merry Christmas
