Hey all, I have a presumed Deshojo (might be Shin Deshojo but I am no expert) Japanese Maple that I rescued from the sad corner of a local nursery about 2 years ago. I honestly didn't expect it to survive this long but now I'm attached and wondering what the process would be to take it from a 13" diameter planter pot (roughly 10" deep) and train it to become a potential bonsai.
Any suggestions and links to information is appreciated, I am new to the hobby but ready to learn what I can!
(As a side note, I'm not sure why the nursery left a band of what I'm assuming is a kind of yellow glue along the trunk, for all I know this lil guy was a sloppy grafting. I elected to leave it be until I could look into it further. Again, any/all advice is appreciated!)
