Yesterday I got both these nursery stocks in the discounted section for $20 each.

White pine has an ugly scar on the back but has potential I think (first time owning one), short internodes, and a nice flare at the nebari. Not sure of the plan for this yet might compact it or make a drastic change for the hell of it

I have 2 possible plans for the spruce, lightning struck with deadwood at the top and jin the branches at the base, maybe leave a bottom branch the at the base OR make a deadwood path all the way from the top to the base and eliminate all the bottom branches.

I’m just not sure of the process when is the earliest I can repot them and start branch selection?

Any other tips or styling tips would be appreciated

I'm looking around for ideas fore EWP and found your post- sorry nobody gave you any input! Did you forge ahead and do some shaping this year? Would love to see any progress- really unusual shape for the white pine from the ones I have seen around here (Nashville)- I would have grabbed that myself for sure!
