But while they make a living giving false testimony
I often impress the ceremony with an exercise in exorcism
First I ride the rhythm, then I spit a venomous
Open mic sermon for the triflin' vermin
That had a hard time learnin'

The issue with MOST (almost ALL) "postmodern" bonsai designs is that wind up being "tin eared" and ineffective as bonsai. They are not really bonsai, they are anti-bonsai. They are not subtle, they're not quiet, they're not all that relaxing to look at. At their worst, they're mostly symbolic only to the people making them. They try too hard to "say" something, or make a lot of effort being precious for no apparent reason. Or their "message" is about as subtle and cliched as a sledgehammer.

At their best, they're engaging, sometimes compelling and interesting to look at--but not as you would bonsai.

Apparently, the ability to shape a tree into a bonsai causes ego inflation, or more likely, attractive to someone with an already overblown ego. Get over yourselves. You have completely missed the most important aspects of bonsai - spirituality, peace, love, humility..

I found tantric to be intelligent, articulate, and entertaining.
I am a newbie to bonsai, looking for a good website from which to learn. Based on what I have seen in this thread, I will keep looking..

Hey, you're back...great! As to your question, I honestly don't associate any of those things with art per se. I happen to love bonsai, which is the only art form I practice. Can it have those things associated with it...yes...but it doesn't need to have any of them in my not too deep and relatively shallow opinion.

Uh, bonsai does have "bonsai no satori" (look up Saburo Kato), but like people who buy hamburger at the supermarket without giving a thought to how it got there, you have missed the other half of what bonsai is--the product of actual work. Creating one involves a lot of cutting, pruning, chopping, trunk benders, splitters, cutters, power tools and shaping a tree into something it probably wouldn't have in mind (if it had a mind).

So maybe, instead of going all 'bunch of a-holes" on us, maybe you should consider that you're as half-assed as the rest of us a-holes. The very act of shaping a tree to your will is an egocentric act, so get over YOURSELF.

I think this is a case of the glass being half full or half empty... and one seeing what one wants to see?

This thread, just as all threads here a the Nut had some actual intellectual thoughts thrown in with some BS. But, is this not life?

Some are very passionate about their Art, because it is very important to them, some are very passionate about having a place to come and socialize, and some are perhaps passionate about the fact that if they were not posting here, then perhaps they would have to do something awful like chores, or work...

There are plenty of folks who contribute a lot of good info... Some who contribute little, and some that just come to watch others contribute.

Life is not at all like a box of chocolate, instead it is all about what you put into it.
Nothing is free and no one helps one not willing to learn... Attitude, has a lot to do with this.

The poster was not wrong posting what they posted, and most of the people who replied, we're not wrong in what they posted...

But, here again one's Attitude goes a long way... let's take your post for example. You are not wrong perhaps in thinking that the OP was contributing something of value to the conversation, yet, instead of just saying I think the OP has some good points, you chose instead to blast everyone. Which fine... perhaps everyone might deserve it... this does not however change the fact that this is not an attitude that is going to bring you any of the knowledge of Bonsai, that you came here seeking.

This is not the spirituality, the peace and love, and definitely not the humility you express to say exists in Bonsai. If this is what you are seeking, cool... perhaps you might start over and examine your own Attitude... you can find all of this in anything in life, even in the most chaotic of places... but only if this is what you are really seeking.

The OP, I sure could of had this too... if he had perhaps handled it better?

If the world is full of fools, it might be fun now and then to play along... but, one always has the choice of whether to do so or not. It is not enough to blame everyone else for the way you act.

Oh man this is all a pile of fecal matter. If something is so bad that you have to come here and call everyone an ass hole then maybe, it would have been better to just go away. OR______maybe the whole point was to call every body an asshole and you were looking for the opportunity. This site has been around here a long time and there are people here that have been posting here a long time and doing bonsai even longer. Though I suppose somehow you may have been given this advanced knowledge graven by the bonsai gods on your heart about the art and culture of growing bonsai, and already,---- even before you have one single tree,--- know how to grow them far better than any of us assholes.
