Hard to believe, I got a copy about a year ago for the regular price so I guess they are now out of print. I also have Saburo Kato’s book that now commands a similar price as well as a couple others now out of print so maybe I should sell them before someone reprints them!

Dang

What are Bonsai Techniques 1 and 2 selling for these days? I got them kind of to enjoy them as artifacts and as someone who vaguely collects books, but they’re definitely gathering dust

I have nick lenz first edition.i can scan pages and send if someone is realy interested.

Nice price. Beware anything over $200 on eBay. I’ve got the first edition too. Had it since the book was published

There is a set on FB Bonsai Auctions for around $200. I’ve seen $50-$400 depending on condition, signatures and edition. There are some hard cover editions of both Techniques and From the Wild and they tend to go for big bucks

There is something I am curious about: the first-edition copy published by ABS is attributed to "A. N. Lenz" on the cover, but some vendors describe it as being authored by one "Alexandra N. Lenz." What's up with that?

Alexandra N. Lenz does appear to be a real person, but she's German and does not seem to be involved with our thing from what I can tell.

Example from Amazon so you can see what I mean.

Could be a fake listing. More likely its that the seller's online search for "Lenz" is in error and they don't know any better or care. The seller probably isn't a bonsai person. Alexandra Lenz is an author, but not the author of this book. That would be Nick Lenz.

You're probably right! What's your first-ed say on the cover? A. N. Lenz or something else?

That is what the cover of mine looks like.

Well, they used the right cover in that posting at least.

I wonder what the A stands for...

Edit: Apparently Mr. Lenz's first name was actually Andrew. Nicholas was his middle name.

Jorgens86, I'm in northern Michigan and would love to have a scanned copy of the book.
