Nice work on your first wiring.
That’s an interesting nursery can. Looks a little like a small waste paper basket.
Yeah, That was why I didn’t initially say trash can. Wasn’t trying to imply anything.Thanks.
As long as it doesn't become a waste tree basket.
I’m waiting to dig up an old one I likeGood starter collection.
Gosh, you live in Charlotte and haven’t got an azalea yet? .
cheers

Welcome Aboard BN @DraytonSawyer !Longtime lurker, first time posting but always learning. Couple of before and after shots on a Alberta spruce that was picked up for $7 at a local Big Box Nursery. I'm not really a fan of the Alberta spruce, especially for Bonsai, but at that price I figured it was good practice.
Now that's got some moves!Yamadori hawthorn I collected about 10 minutes from home.

Love that potHere’s a Chinese elm I repotted today. It was living in regular potting soil and desperately needed to get into some bonsai soil. Used a Boon mix and a Bob Hunter pot. After it recovers and has its first complete flush of growth hardened off (it’s still budding like crazy all over the place), I’ll give it a haircut.

Thanks! It’s so beautiful in person. Bob’s pots are frequently on the Bonsai Auctions / .99 Bonsai Facebook groupsLove that pot
I bet if you played it some bluegrass it'd start dancing.
Still, super cool tree!!!Here is my first complete wiring of a pre-bonsai I did on my own. I started to try and wire it back in 2019 when I got it, but made a bunch of mistakes, including ripping the top off (twice). I let it heal and grow until a couple weeks ago. I worked out the apex and am beginning to chase the growth back on the lower mains:

Long way to go still, but hopefully I can work it into something worthwhile.
