Okay so went to my new place last night and the back yard is over grown in the corners and back side. Wanted to see if any of you would try to save some of this. I'm still new so not sure what can and can't be used. And some of this looks way to mature and over grown.

There are also 2 yews around the side that I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep.

I would cut those junipers (not the ERC) back pretty hard: 24" high, wide, and deep; or to the first tuft of foliage on most of the branches, leaving some branches to carve for jins, and see what pops back to dig up next spring. Good luck.

Thanks and that was my thoughts but didn't know how hard to cut it but in the same saying it's free so no loss on death.

What about the erc I like the trunk size was think about cutting it in half.

Dont waste your time on the ERC, they offer nothing in terms of bonsai use. Straight trunk on top of being a not-so-great species for bonsai.

Maybe locust and boxelder.

Boxelder ima say no. This has more of a trident style leaf the boxelder is more like my hornbeam

Not sure on the locust ether there's no thorns. Black locust are really popular here and I know for sure no. But it is that style leaf just smaller.

Okay after a week in the new house I'm in a bad spot so far. I re planted my tree only to find out my in-laws trying to help poisoned the ground. In return this poisoned my crab apple.

Cut one of the junipers back hard this it a beast would make a great cascade or semi but not sure if I want a project of this magnitude.

Not sure if the picture does justice. The trunk is about 4-5 foot long no taper parallelto the ground.

Other then that half the yard is cleaned up. Fount there's a huge pit in the back that was half ass filled with crush and run so pulled some of that up for a temporary fire pit to burn the yard waste since here only way to get rid of yard waste I'd the dump and it's a 45 min drive and I don't have a pick up lol.

@sorce not as good as your $0.00 bench but here's my $9.54 bench . Still working on the garden. And trimmed the dead leaves off the crab apple hoping it will take the poison with it.

Thanks getting a hinoki from mark in the fall. I'm actually getting 10 using 9 for a forest .

Okay almost have all the garden cleaned up. But the end of the month I'll be getting full dirt to help level it out.

My question now is I'm going to be planting grow outs in the garden and I'm trying to figure what to plack on top the dirt. I see so many gardens with pea gravel and it looks great but mulch is an all-time favorite.

Just looking for ideas thats all. .
