Got this one as a surprise from a new friend. I haven't touched it yet. Not sure if I like the exposed roots. Maybe I'll change the planting angle and make it taller.

Interesting. I'm not a fan of the roots, myself. My first instinct is to wonder if you can root the top of the trunk and have it cascade down instead of bending up.

I like it just the way it is...Just injure the area you want roots from pack it with moss or soil and add to the trunk some roots to form a bigger base.
I love a good cascade and this one has the potential.
Some inspiration for you.

Repotted this one last night. It was showing almost no signs of growth other than figs. It grew I think two leaves this entire month. I changes the potting angle and covered up the problem roots. Wired it. Wiring looks chaotic. I was aiming to establish a silhouette, but I'm not sure how well it turned out. It definitely needs more work.

Also the pot was just one I had lying around that it could fit in with the new angle and allow more root growth. I figure it will need a round or oval pot. Something much less deep.
