New bonsai garden, including koi pond!

Looking sweet! Can't wait to see it with all the landscaping done.

Do you have a drone? Would be neat to see it from above.

I do have a drone. That doesn’t mean I know how to fly it! Lol!!! I’ll get some pictures of it, eventually.

Oh, yeah, lots of landscaping repair to be done!

As a part of getting to the power run to the pumps, I had waterlines run so I can run an automated watering system for my trees. And, I had my gutters/downspouts piped to carry water away from the house.

Getting there... baby steps...

I’ve got a lot of red clay to cover up!

Sweet!
I just cannot get over the amount of growth you get there! There has been water in there for what.. 2 days? And you have already plants popping up! Divine work there!

Did you have an autofill line installed or do you have to top to up by hand? My recirculating stream holds about 300 gal and has to be topped off every 2-3 days but it is one 25’ long waterfall. Evaporation can be estimated as 0.01 x your pump rate. So with my 3000 gal/hr pump rate I lose about 30 gal/day to evaporation and that doesn’t include what the plants along the stream transpire. Plus on really hot dry days it can be double that. You should expect to see your pond’s water level drop 2-3” each day now.

Awesome! Enjoy the garden! With a yard like that who needs the Park!
AlthoughParks are fantastic to say the least

Do you have to match the water temperature of your pond to the temperature of the water the new Koi or Goldfish are coming from ??? I like the old dead tree log with the water coming out...

Well, the koi dealer lives Not too far away. His water would probably be cooler, his ponds are indoors. I’ll float the bags in the pond for a half hour, then release them.

While it's a good idea to float the bags, make sure you don't leave them in the sun, you'll bake the fish. Put an umbrella out or something and float them in shade.

The bags could really heat up from the Sun if you do not put them in the shade.

That’s good to know. I don’t have any shade to speak of. Unless it’s late afternoon. I’ll plan accordingly.

When do you get the fish? That will be exciting day.
I’m going to start slow. Maybe get three.

When? I dunno... I’ll give it a week to settle.

When I filled it, it was pretty clear. Then, when we turned on the pumps, it went murky brown! Even though we had washed it down and pumped it out. All that gravel in the big held a lot of dust.

Then, we added plants. That made it so murky, I couldn’t even see the bottom of the shallow parts!

Overnight, it changed from murky brown to slightly less murky green. I like the green better! It probably got the green from algae hanging on to the plants, which came from various other ponds.

The UV light “filter” isn’t working. It’s brand new, but the light doesn’t turn on. Don’t know why. The pond builder is going to have it replaced.

So... we’re thinking that it may be 3 or 4 days before it clears up. All that stone dust has to settle out.

Maybe next week for a few fish?
