Think both decisions are wise… rewire carefully and keep it in the present container until it builds enough critical mass (foliage and roots to make a move worthwhile… given the media retains decent drainage.

Perhaps the best way to understand the former is to check out what this tree’s critical mass (of foliage) was at the start of this thread and compare this to todays productive mass of foliage.

This comparison is rarely ideal 1:1 in bonsai, yet it does yield significant information to the practitioner.
