Need help on juniper refinement techniques

I believe Natures way is in Harrisburg Penn. It should not be too far from you and they have a lot of collected trees at not too high a price. They have a nice Limbar Pine for around $300 I am kind of interested in, a lot of Junipers neat--- place.

Lazy lightning,

I think that yukishiro said something very important which I'd DON'T fertilize too heavily. IMO miracle gro every week is too much. Do half strength or a little less if you fert every week. I would use some organic fert which will give tree vigor without excessive growth. Get it healthy and trim back once per yer in late summer.

Yours needs to get vigorous, it doesn't pay to work juniper too hard, just slows down the training process. Someone said, was it grimmy, that the slow way is the fastest way to train bonsai, ESP true with conifers.

You can get shimpaku or procumbens mail order from Meehans miniatures in Maryland . Good folks to deal with. Spend a hundred and get something nice

I don't know whether it is because you guys are down loading pictures form a phone or a can of dog food, but from my point of view I would love to see these trees that you post in a semblance of full screen. This would put joy in my aging old heard and dimming old eyes. Not to mention you would have a folder full of world class photos. This one is A Kishu Shimpaku I worked down into a 24" tall semi-formal upright from a 3 gallon nursery tree in 1994. I have yet to transfer the original demo I did with the Four Seasons Bonsai club in 1994. I just found it on VHS. I need to transfer it into a compatible format that I can post on the net.

As someone who has only bought nursery stock or bought plants out of people's yards ("hi neighbor, i noticed that you have a beautiful mugo pine that you haven't touched in a decade in your front yard, could i clone a branch perhaps?") I have no idea how much anything "should" go for.

Also thank you for clarifying what Nature's Way was, because I was lost until i saw your comment.

How far is Nature's Way?

Sorce

Looks like you just put a new pin on my "list of places to check out." Google is saying 3.5hours away by car with little traffic. It would be worth the 3 hour drive if they had utah or rocky mountain stock. Much thanks!

I would call them first, they do have telephones in them back woods ya know. It's a neat place to go and wander around. It is on a dirt road but if my GPS can find the address you should have no trouble finding it.
