I'm starting this thread to encourage myself to document and post more photos of the things I'm working on, both trees and bonsai-related woodworking projects. I made a little photo backdrop setup with some black foam core and basic lights.

Here are some test photos, starting with a boxelder burl stand. This was made from a chunk of burl from a boxelder tree that we cut down shortly after we moved into our house.

Euphorbia misera aka cliff spurge. Recently got this, haven't done much to it yet, but the way the growth zigzags has me excited for the potential of this species.

Fern kokedama in a Russian olive burl bowl that I turned on the lathe. From a tree on my property as well.

I got a motorized turntable too, here's a test video:

Propagation update:
  • Corkbark dwarf jade: 80% or so, sending out small roots, probably more would take if I gave them time, but I have way more than I need as is
  • Dwarf umbrella tree: all the cuttings I took sent out nice big roots after a couple of months. Rooted them in a mason jar filled with water, the easiest propagation ever.
  • Cliff spurge is showing promise. After a month or so, most are starting to put out small roots or showing some signs of life.
  • Moss is looking good.
  • Mountain mohogany, all quite dead. These were kept outside, and I think they got nuked with our dry summer. I've tried a few inside with the jade and no luck either. I don't think I have the moisture/humidity level right for these. I may try from seed instead.
  • Russian olive, all very dead as well.
