so the story goes on... one more year under the belt... ramification keeps progressing. This spring decided to change pots for two of them... actually realized they can already go to much shallower pots... have a lot of roots very shallow so was working some pieces of wood deeper in the root balls... kind of interesting as with their shapes they don't really need visible nebari... so when I pruned roots was a lot of interesting choices. Shallower pots will need to be parked till couple of years from now but we always have time to change.
This year need to stay on top of the growth... last year let them run too fast and ended up with some branches unproportional to the rest of the tree that ulimately had to be cut off. Also more work needed to shape the apexes for both... but leaders already there.

This season I promised myself to stay on the top of my elms... last year I let them grow too much and too fast and particularly the small one ended up with a lot of coarse growth that I will have to cut off anyway. All of them started strong and just received first haircut... probably one of many more to come considering how fast they grow. The "twisted" one has really nice small leaves and super soft branching... bodes probably the best for the future.
